This totally rocks. Now surfing the web and checking email is no longer relegated to the Sidekick and Blackberry crowd. Opera is now releasing a web browser for Java-enabled mobile phones. And if you don't know what Java is, well, if you've bought your phone in the past 2 years and play games on it, then you can get this app.

Starting Monday, Unlock Your Cellphone.

Yup, thanks federal government!
Starting Monday, you can all say goodbye to cellphone contract slavery. You can legally have your service provider unlock your cellphone so you can go freely to tip toe in the tulips and hook up with another provider.

That's right, starting on Monday you'll be able to say screw you to Cingular or ta ta to T-Mobile and keep rocking your precious RAZR even after you've jumped ship and signed up with a new provider. The exemption is one of a record six granted by the Copyright Office on Wednesday. So go forth, friends, and use this new info to either make the switch or squeeze a better deal out of your current provider -- just remember, no matter how hard you try, you're just not gonna be able to get that unlocked GSM phone to play nice with Sprint or Verizon. Gmail Standalone App for Cell Phones

Just the other day, I posted about flurrymail, a website and program that allow you to have access to all your email accounts on your phone.
Today, I read that Google has released a stand-alone app for Java-enabled phones. Check the phone compatibility list and then download the app by steering your phone's web browser to gmail.com/app.
Initial reviews are good, stating that the app allows a faster and cleaner interface to Gmail; in addition to viewing attachments like Word files or PDF files.
I installed it and it's a bit slow, but I can't fault the app, my Gmail's been acting funny recently.

If you're not one of the corporate crackberry addicts, then you may have a problem accessing e-mail accounts from your cell phone.
Well fear not, flurry has a little java program that you can easily download to your cell phone and have access to ALL your e-mail accounts and RSS news feeds. It works with all phones and service providers. You can read exactly how it works, but let me tell you, I have my gmail, hotmail, and yahoo e-mail now in one simple interface on my phone. WOOT!
