Flight 93, Bud Dwyer, and other 9/11 musings

Recently in the news, there has been alot of coverage of the Zacarias Moussaoui trial. More importantly, they have released audio tapes of 911 calls from people in the towers. I've heard two so far, with several more to be made public in the coming days.
My question is: Is this appropriate?
I mean, is it appropriate to listen to the last breath, the last screams from a person as the towers fall around them? There have been some tapes that don't have the exact instance of the collapse. Some others run up to the point where you hear the individual scream and hear the building collapse.
Does news outlets need to air this? Anyone remember Bud Dwyer? It was back in 1987, when a local ABC channel in Philadelphia decided it was OK to air the suicide of a Senator by pistol. Much controversy followed.
I believe this is the same case.
Is New York City ready for the opening up of old scars? What about the United 93 movie coming on the 28th? THE 28th of APRIL. Personally, I won't be going to go see it.
Even listening to the tapes of the 911 calls, I get a sickening feeling in my stomach. I was here in Manhattan 4 years ago and can recall all the events of that morning. The people running from the ash, the blackened faces, and most striking, the people JUMPING from a skyscraper and falling to their death because that was the only escape from the intense heat inside the towers.
For those outside of New York City, perhaps in the midwest, they cannot feel the gut-renching feeling that media coverage of that day can bring about. To outsiders, it's just another day that needs coverage, that needs rememberance.
To us New Yorkers, it was the day we lost our innocence.
