Running Firefox web browser? Good. You should be. Now put all that open source goodness to some use with some extensions. One of my all time favorites is Forecastfox. You can keep track of the current weather and the forcast for the next month if you wanted to. It's pretty unobtrusive, I keep it in the menu bar on my browser. And it can give you little pop ups letting you know how it is outside (if you choose to venture away from the glow of your computer monitor) at user-defined intervals. Try it out.
