I've tried this thing a couple weeks back and Lifehacker.com brought it to my attention again.
Basically, it will scan your system for any rootkits running. Those pesky little buggers lie on your system and are hidden from view. Even through a directory scan or search, you won't find these things. And they run all sorts of nasty stuff, like hide utilities used to abuse a compromised system. These often include so called "backdoors" to help the attacker subsequently access the system more easily.
So try this out, the website also gives pretty good explanation of what to do and why you found stuff when you do...
