Running Scared: A series of unfortunate events with guns, drugs, and the mob.
My second NetFlix movie over the holiday vacation was Running Scared, starring Paul Walker. Basically it's about a low level mob guy who takes possession of silver-plated, snub-nosed .38 pistol that was used to kill a cop. This gun almost serves as the center piece of the story, with all major plot events revolving around the gun, happening to the protagonist and his son and son's friend, played by Alex Neuberger and the always-creepy-looking Cameron Bright (I mean, the dude is CREEPY looking, right?).
It starts off with a drug deal gone bad, and an undercover cop getting shot with this gun. Joey (Paul Walker) winds up having to get rid of the gun, but instead hides it in his basement. Oleg (Cameron Bright) comes across it and takes it to shoot at his abusive father. Afterwards, Oleg runs away and hides with the gun.
From here on out, after Joey finds out that the dirty gun is missing, it's a wild search for the gun, with the police and mobsters breathing down Joey's neck.
Basically a series of unfortunate events involving a gun, some drugs, and the mob.
I was watching this movie and saying to myself, "What else can go wrong?" Because that's what exactly happens. You throw in some crack addicts, some hookers and a pimp, some Latino gangbangers, and some pedophiles; and you've got a nice mix for a crazy plot line. By the way, the word "fuck" and its variants are used 328 times in the film.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
