Playstation 3 Source Event review

Well, Sony has their media-friendly propaganda machine rolling in full effect in the trendy SoHo area of New York City this week.
I attended yesterday, and the take home message is: PS3 HYPE.
They had some games out ("NHL 2K7," "Resistance: Fall of Man," "Mobile Suit Gundam," "Genji: Days of Blade", "Need for Speed: Carbon", and "Sonic the Hedgehog") , all PS3s running on Sony Bravia 1080p HDTVs, wired SIXAXIS controllers (you know, the lighter, janky ones with NO VIBRATION). They also had the PS3 menu system on display, you can watch movies, video, listen to music, and surf the internet from the PS3.
The BEST thing: FREE FOOD, and drink, but NO booze (too bad). I had alot to eat. You can't say no to little pigs in blankets and cheeseburgers.

The wierdest thing was the camera crew roaming around interviewing people and asking them how much they loved the PS3 and how awesome and lucky they were to be playing it hands-on. They even had "booth babes" dressed in short black mini-skirts, the eye candy for the evening. But instead of knowing and promoting the PS3, they were taking notes and writing down what they overhead people talking about and saying. Things like, "Awesome graphics!", "I can't wait to get one!" and "I don't care if I have to finance it!"

Video to follow tomorrow.
