monday's in the can
monday's done. always the best day of the week. this week will be more interesting than most, as JCAHO is in the house. if you're unfamiliar with JCAHO, they're basically the organization that comes to the hospital and makes all the employee's lives a living hell for a week.
they come around, easily spotted by their "wear-suits-and-travel-in-packs" mentality, asking questions regarding patient care, outcome studies, and policies and procedures (a favorite topic of our former supervisior). everyone in the hospital basically knows where the joint commision survey pack is at all times, via telephone calls and interdepartmental e-mails. they have the hospital all in an uproar.
they stress out everyone down to the last detail about some patient you saw 3 weeks ago and why this piece of equipment is sitting here in this spot at this very exact moment (when it's been sitting there for the past 4 years, broken).
they look, examine, question, and takes notes on everything (at least, that's what i'm told) and give out a overall score for the hospital from 1-100.
last year, we had a little fiasco with our president, so this JCAHO survey seems a bit more stressful to most.
however, monday came and went without any drama.
i suppose we dodged a bullet the first day?
but we'll see. every monday seems to be annoying as the last. perhaps it's just because it's the first day of the week we have to work and it marks the end of the weekend? perhaps i have a case of the mondays. if that's so, please medicate me....
