asteroid heading for earth 2036

found this on digg.  there's a chance that an asteroid will hit the earth in 2036, a 1 in 10,000 chance.
the next time it's going to be close to our orbit is in 2029.  at that time, scientists are hoping to tag it with a radio beacon.  also, they're going to try and nudge it a couple of miles to get it out of its existing orbit so that we can all enjoy our retirement savings that we're saving up for now....
do we have a future?
