Governor's Island: more pictures.

Another view from the inside of the ferry, looking towards Brooklyn.

Looking at lower Manhattan from Governor's Island. Great weather.

Free kayaking on the island, but I don't think they're allowed to go very far.

The closet point of land on the island to the Statue of Liberty.

Spent a couple hours on the island. The weather was about 70-72 degrees with clear skies. Couldn't ask for a better day to ride around the island. It was an easy ride, too, since it's pretty flat there, not alot of hills. And it's pretty small too, took less than 40 minutes to make the round trip on the bike path around the island.
Most of the island is being renovated. It's filled with buildings, some recently constructed, and some from the Civil War era. Lot's a history on the island.
I think more or less a secret getaway so close to Manhattan.
