Bypass The 12 Second Automated Cellphone Voicemail Recording

Saw this on the NYTimes.com today. Bypass that annoying automated voicemail message that most cellular providers have. From the article:

I calculated that Verizon rakes in about $1 million a day by holding its 40 million customers hostage to this recording. (Actually, I first calculated $100 million, but my math was off. And since Verizon rounds off each call to the nearest minute--another evil tactic--the 12-second recording doesn't always push you into another minute of billing. It does, however, always waste your time.)
